General Information

The Runoffs® are the National Championships of the Sports Car Club of America, and have been held since 1964. At first the Runoffs alternated between Riverside in California and Daytona in Florida. In 1970 the event settled at Road Atlanta for a 24 year run. In 1994 the Runoffs moved to the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course. The current contract between the SCCA and Mid-Ohio runs until 1999.

SCCA Car Classifications

A general outline of the classification of cars in the SCCA may be found in http://www.na-motorsports.com/Organizations/SCCA/Racing/Rules.html. A historical essay outlining how the rules came to be where they are today is also available. Finally, lap records for the long course at Watkins Glen are available in order to allow some comparisons between the various types of car that compete in the SCCA.
